Expo 67 Chocolate Drink
A reader sent me this photo of a sparkling chocolate drink from Expo 67.
The label reads: "Bottled by or under authority of Pure Spring (Canada) Limited. Ottawa, Canada by appointment of EXPO 67".
The bottle was never opened. I wonder how it tastes...

How cool is that! Almost strange that it was never opened... I wouldn't really offer myself to taste it now, maybe back then, but not now...
Fascinating stuff Jason!
Oh I remember tasting it back then and it was not very good at all. Would love a bottle for my collection now though.
I was 11 years old when I went to EXPO67 in Montreal...I tasted this beverage for the first time and enjoyed it along with all the other PURE SPRING drinks from Ottawa. Being that I moved away from OTTAWA/GATINEAU, I have never seen the drink again but have tried other chocolate beverages such as chocolate flavoured beer, wine with chocolate essence, chocolate tequila and chocolate chai tea and the like. I wish they would bring back all good things that are Canadian such as the Sparkling chocolate soda...
On another note I am still trying to find a rhubarb juice I found around twenty years ago in Safeway stores in Calgary...it was so refreshing and delicious, I could only wish to be able to acquire this product over all the other juice 'cocktails' available today! I realize it was probably an American product. :(
Here we are ten years later at the 50th anniversary of Expo 67 and my father in law still has that old bottle of chocolate drink (unopened) sitting on the mantle. He's open to offers...
