St-Catherine Street, 1961

From Spacing Montreal, this 1961 photo of St-Catherine Street at the corner of Mansfield, where Place Montreal Trust stands today.

Interesting to note is that St-Catherine was a 2 way street in those days...

Love pictures like that! Never realised that Reitman's has been around for so long before...

I worked downtown in 1974, on Mansfield street.....and went to Woolworth's almost everyday at lunchtime. Ate there too sometimes, at their lunch counter. It was a cool store, 2 floors! I was really sorry to see it go......

OH.....Remember that outfit I had, the billowy black skirt and the see-through white blouse with the "pierrot" collar, I bought those at that Reitman's.....and the teal bridesmaid's dress, I got at D'Allairds......wow, trip down memory lane.....

Yep, Ste-Catherine has been both ways for quite some time, since the streetcars but parking was prohibited on the street.
