PLB Wine and Cheese

PLB Design was founded by Montreal graphic designer (and my boyfriend) Pier-Luk Bouthillier. Pier-Luk combines his passion for design with a concern for the environment, creating what I consider designs that are both retro-licious and eco-chic...
Tomorrow evening, a wine and cheese party will be held for a series of environmentally themed t-shirts he's created. The event will be held at Crazy Lily, 6300 Saint Hubert (as in Plaza Saint Hubert...), from 6 to 9pm.
Crazy Lily's entire inventory will be tax free for the event. See you there!

Diana Ross and The Supremes: Love Child

Motown's signature act had to change.
Motown head honcho Berry Gordy held an emergency meeting at a hotel in Detroit with a team of writers and producers at the label. The group, dubbed The Clan, set to work on a new hit single for The Supremes.
The result was Love Child.
Love Child broke out of Motown's love song mould. The song was about a woman who was asking her boyfriend not to pressure her into sleeping with him. The woman, herself a love child, was afraid of conceiving out of wedlock. The song would talk about the hardships of being illegitimite: not having a father at home, wearing rags to school and growing up in an "old, cold, run-down tenement slum."
For Love Child, The Supremes' image changed also: the album cover photo was taken in an alley, and during an Ed Sullivan performance, they went as far as ditching their glamour queen gowns for street "rags".

Retro Recipe: Coppertone Cocktail

• 1/2 oz dark rum
• 1 oz Malibu rum
• 3 oz pineapple juice
• float melon liqueur
Mixing instructions:
Combine dark rum, Malibu rum, pineapple juice & ice in mixing tin. Shake. Strain over ice and float melon liqueur. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
This cocktail combines my love for coconut with my obsession of suntan lotion. Enjoy!

Jenn Ski

In early 2007 she launched Jenn Ski (a pseudonym based on her high school nickname). She is currently making wall art: paintings (acrylic and paper on hardboard) and poster prints. Jenn plans to expand her art to include pottery, pillows, stationary, etc.
The mix of organic pod shapes with a retro touch totally appeals to me!
